IREducation Fractional Calculus Course

Our Fractional Calculus Course aims to foster independent mathematical research and innovation among AS and A2 Further Mathematics students, focusing on advanced topics in fractional and complex-order calculus. By engaging in original mathematical investigation — from conceptual formulation to numerical experimentation and formal exposition — students will :

  • Develop research-level mathematical thinking
  • Acquire LaTeX and academic writing skills applicable to university-level mathematics
  • Explore pure mathematics beyond the A-level syllabus, focusing on real and complex analysis, special functions, and numerical methods
  • Produce a publishable research paper to be submitted to the arXiv preprint server or other undergraduate mathematical journals, which they can put in their personal statements
  • Provide a structured and rigorous alternative to the EPQ, especially for students interested in pure mathematics where humanities-related topics are more preferred
